It is classified as an emission nebula and as an H II region. The Lagoon Nebula was discovered by Giovanni Hodierna before 1654 and is one of only two star-forming nebulae faintly visible to the eye from mid-northern latitudes.Distance to Earth: 4,077 light yearsThe Trifid Nebula is an H II region in the north-west of Sagittarius in a star-forming region in the Milky Way's Scutum-Centaurus Arm. It was discovered by Charles Messier on June 5, 1764. Its name means 'three-lobe'.Distance to Earth: 5,200 light yearsEquipment used: WO Z73 doublet apo on GEM28 mount with GPS, ZWO 183MC Pro main camera and ZWO 120mini guidecam, 0.8x FR FF, ASI Air Pro with wifi extender, Optolong L enhance filter, dew heaters and two Jackery units. At 344mm reduced FL, I was able to capture the double target and collect 20 x 180sec light subs, [stacked and processed in Pixinsight and touched up in Paintshop pro for clarity, (with 30 × 180sec new darks, and 30 x auto new flats)], of this huge double target before the clouds came and killed the session, again!!!
